Dear John,
Today marks one year since the passing of TFN’s founder, renowned social justice champion Cecile Richards.
We are honored to carry her legacy forward and continue the fight for a Texas where everyone can live as their freest, fullest selves. If you’d like to honor Cecile with us, here are five actions you can take.
Gather at the Table
Cecile was a firm believer in the power of a good meal. Whether you host a home-cooked dinner or treat your loved ones to a restaurant night, gather at the table, eat some good food, and truly connect to honor her memory. Bonus points: Make her cherry pie recipe! [[link removed]]
Explore New Orleans
Cecile started out as a labor organizer in New Orleans, where she met her husband, Kirk, and maintained deep ties to the city throughout her life. Put on some NOLA jazz in her honor, learn about the city’s rich civil rights history [[link removed]] , or, if you’re able, plan a trip.
Give Your Time or Money
Get involved with an organization or campaign that’s fighting for reproductive freedom, gender equality, or another issue important to you. Whether it’s donating to a local abortion fund, volunteering with Planned Parenthood Texas Votes [[link removed]] , or supporting another cause close to your heart, every action, big and small, makes a difference.
Get Ready to Vote
Feb. 2 is the last day to register to vote for the March primary election. Make sure you’re ready. Check your voter registration status, and get five friends to do it, too. [[link removed]]
Last But Not Least, Make Trouble
Buy her book, Make Trouble: Stand Up, Speak Out, and Find the Courage to Lead [[link removed]] , or get it at your local library. Then go do exactly that.
In community, as Cecile would want it,
