One year in…still fighting for our LGBTQ+ loved ones

Dear John,

A year ago the Trump administration took office. Almost immediately, LGBTQ+ people — especially transgender youth and their families — were in the crosshairs.

As we mark this painful anniversary today, will you make a gift to ensure that PFLAG can continue showing up for families who are being targeted and pushed to the margins? ([link removed])

Within days of the Trump administration taking power, PFLAG National agreed to serve as the lead plaintiff in PFLAG v. Trump, Within days of the Trump administration taking power, PFLAG National agreed to serve as the lead plaintiff in PFLAG v. Trump, partnering with our legal teams at ACLU and Lambda Legal—along with GLMA and transgender youth and their families—to challenge a cruel executive order ([link removed]) that threatened to strip federal funding from medical providers and institutions providing gender-affirming medical care for transgender people under the age of nineteen.

We didn’t do it because it was easy. We did it because when we say we have families’ backs, we mean it.

The harm is real: the last year has brought escalating attacks, dangerous rhetoric, and policies designed to isolate and erase trans and nonbinary people. Threats to the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ people — even to existing protections for marriage equality — continue to grow. Families are scared. Young people have been targeted. And the need for trusted support, connection, and belonging has never been greater.

Thanks to you, PFLAG is working tirelessly to meet that need. In 2025, with your support, we opened 37 new PFLAG chapters, the most in our organization’s 53-year history. We are connecting families to life-saving support, accurate information, and both in-person and virtual community in places where it’s needed most.

But the attacks haven’t stopped. So neither can we.

A gift today from you will show those who oppose us that our love is louder ([link removed]), and fuel our advocacy, grow our chapter network, and ensure we have the sustained ability to show up anywhere and everywhere a family needs us.

Hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ+ people and their families are counting on PFLAG National — and YOU — to keep showing up and fighting back… in the courts, in communities, and alongside families who refuse to give up on their kids..

This is what we mean when we talk about leading with love at PFLAG. Ours is a courageous love that fights back and wins. And because of you, that love is louder than any attempt to silence us.

With gratitude,

Brian K. Bond (he/him)
