Five years ago, Donald Trump tried to pressure election officials to "find" him votes after he lost.
Now, he's doing something even more dangerous: trying to change the rules before the 2026 midterm elections even begin.
Across the country, Trump and his allies are pushing an all-out effort to tilt the playing field — redrawing congressional maps mid-decade, attacking mail-in voting, undermining voting machines, demanding voters' private information, and staffing key federal agencies with election-deniers who still refuse to accept the results of 2020.
The goal is simple and chilling: hold onto power at all costs; and if they lose, cast doubt on the legitimacy of the election itself.
But EMILYs List women are fighting back. This past November, we expanded our majority in Virginia's House of Delegates and flipped Republican-held seats across the country. Now, these Democratic pro-choice women are on track to stand up to Republican gerrymanders of Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, and Florida with new congressional maps that could flip three or four seats.
The results speak for themselves — electing Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot is the strongest defense against Republicans who will fall in line with the chaos Trump is trying to sow in our next elections.
