John, I hope everyone had a meaningful observance of Dr. King's legacy this weekend. On that subject, I want to be crystal clear about something:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy—of defending marginalized communities, standing up for working-class Americans, and pushing back against war and corruption—is under attack.
In fact, the Trump administration is working around the clock to erase Dr. King’s message, demonize diversity, and erase Black History, all while Black Americans are being hit hardest by cruel cuts to health care and food assistance.
Dr. King showed us that we cannot stay silent. That standing up to demand equality and accountability is our obligation, and that we cannot move this country forward in hate.
To truly honor his life and legacy, we must stand up against division, speak out against injustice, and stand firm in our fight for the just and equitable America he called for.
John, it is painfully clear that we are in a fight not only for our fundamental freedoms, but indeed for democracy itself. Which means that right now, we must be able to use the powers bestowed upon us by the framers of our constitution to block Trump's agenda.
I'm in Congress introducing bills to prohibit discrimination, to make our Supreme Court transparent and accountable, and to stop the President from violating our rights.
But to truly access the power that Congress has to check the president, we have to defeat the rubber-stamp Republican majority—and our district will play a key role in determining that balance of power during the 2026 midterms. My team and I are already preparing to organize, educate, and mobilize our community like Dr. King did all those years ago. Today, would you donate to support our work?
