Hi Friend,
This is Morissa with the Sierra Club. Today marks one year since Donald Trump was sworn back into office, and I'm reflecting on how incredibly difficult this last year has been.
No matter where we're from or who we voted for, we all want to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and live in safe and healthy communities. Yet at every turn, the Trump regime is making it harder for our communities to be safe, to have a healthy environment, to walk through our neighborhoods without fear, and to afford our healthcare and energy bills.
We're up against a lot, and things have really escalated in the last few weeks. It's hard to resist the urge to tune out the horrors on the news. But then I see people showing up and protecting their neighbors, and I feel some hope return. I feel fear, but also determination.
That's why I'm asking you to take a few minutes today to tell us how you're doing.
Rest assured that we are not trying to sell you anything here. We simply want to hear what you think and how you're feeling!
👉 Will you take five minutes to share what's on your mind one year into this Trump presidency?

In the last year, we've watched billionaires and corporate polluters tighten their grip on power while everyday people pay the price through higher costs, dirtier air, and more dangerous daily lives.
But I refuse to accept this as the new normal. Trump is losing support, and we're seeing signs that the tide is starting to turn. We've seen millions of you act to protect our climate, democracy, and one another by taking to the streets, calling legislators, creating and sharing art, writing public comments and letters, and so much more. History tells us that when a small percentage -- just 3.5 percent -- of the population mobilizes together on an ongoing basis, real change becomes inevitable. We're not there yet, but we are on our way.
Meeting this moment requires a strong, connected movement rooted in real people's experiences -- not just headlines or talking points. When we listen to one another, we become harder to divide, harder to silence, and harder to defeat.
Your responses will help shape our strategy and how we show up for communities across the country in the year ahead. We'll follow up with you about ways you can use what you share to fight back to protect people and the planet.
Take a moment to answer a few short questions to tell us:
- How this past year has affected you and your community
- What you want the Sierra Club and the broader movement to prioritize
- What's making you angry, worried, and hopeful right now

This administration wants us to feel powerless. We know better.
Hope isn't passive optimism. It's something we build together. Together, we've already mobilized millions of people across the country. Together we've written millions of letters and made hundreds of thousands of calls. Together, we're just getting started.
Thank you for acting with us.
In solidarity,
Morissa Kellman (she/her)
