John,

On what marks one year since Donald Trump took office for the second time, I wanted to reach out and reflect on the president’s actions over the last year, and what CREW has been doing to hold him accountable.

From the start, Trump made it clear that he has no regard for democracy or the rule of law. He’s flouted the Constitution, defied Congress, weaponized the justice system for his own political retribution, purged the civil service and used the presidency to enrich himself and sell access to power.

Through it all, CREW has been fighting back: taking the administration to court, exposing corruption, tracking conflicts of interest and demanding transparency when Trump refuses it.

We’ll dive more into the details of the last year below, but first, our team is preparing for another challenging year ahead, taking on Trump and fighting for transparency and accountability. Support our efforts and join our fight by donating today →

From day one of his second term, we’ve taken on tough fights to hold Trump and his administration accountable.

  • When the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” seized control of key government functions without being transparent about who they are or how they work, we sued to force DOGE to comply with transparency requirements—and we won.
  • When the Office of Management and Budget took down its spending database and was withholding information from the public, we took the OMB to court and forced the administration to make the apportionments database public again.
  • When Trump repeatedly blurred the lines between his business and the presidency, we tracked his mounting conflicts of interest to expose his corruption to the public.
  • When Trump and his administration tried to conceal information from the public, we filed records requests to demand answers—from Trump’s memecoin dinner to his acceptance of a luxury jet from the Qatari government to his deployment of the National Guard in American cities and much more.
  • And when the Trump administration unlawfully created secret databases that pool sensitive personal information across federal agencies, we took the administration to court to protect our democracy and eligible Americans’ right to vote.

And that’s just some of the work we’ve done in the first year of Trump’s second term.

Our democracy has faced unprecedented challenges over the last year and our team has been committed to holding Trump and his administration accountable and defending our democracy.

As we head into the second year of Trump’s second term, our work only gets harder—and more urgent.

We’re not backing down at this critical moment in our country’s history—and we hope you won’t either. Stand with CREW and join our continued fight for an accountable, ethical and transparent government today by making a donation today →
