The marijuana movement is facing existential threats and cannabis freedom is under fire across the US.
In Arizona, Maine, and Massachusetts, prohibitionists with deep pockets are pushing ballot measures to repeal voter-approved adult-use legalization laws. If passed, these measures will wipe out legal cannabis markets, disrupting safe access to millions of consumers, eliminating thousands of jobs, and ballooning state budget deficits.
In Florida, the DeSantis administration is seeking to deny voters the opportunity to decide on a 2026 adult-use legalization initiative that is supported by a majority of voters.
And in Idaho, a constitutional amendment will appear on the November ballot that, if approved, will forbid voters from ever again having the opportunity to decide on statewide marijuana policies.
These brazen efforts come on the heels of successful recriminalization campaigns last year in Ohio, Nebraska, and Texas. In each of these states, Republican-led lawmakers — assisted by prohibitionist activists — repealed key provisions of voter-approved legalization and decriminalization laws.
Now, more states are on the chopping block. Our opponents won’t be satisfied until legalization is repealed everywhere.
Are you going to let that happen?
2026 is going to be a pivotal year for the marijuana movement. How successfully we respond to these challenges today will determine the degree to which our movement continues to move forward tomorrow.
