When a medical emergency strikes at midnight, on a holiday, or during a weekend, hospitals are there. Hospitals and health systems are the only sites of care that provide 24/7 access to emergency and critical services, ensuring patients can receive life-saving treatment at any hour of any day.

Some politicians in Congress are considering certain policies that put this critical access to care under threat. Impending cuts could force hospitals to limit specialty services, close emergency departments, or shut down entirely. Communities could be left without the safety net that hospitals provide.
