This has been a big issue. She holds the record for vetoing the most legislation in AZ history!
These bills are important though- and they are what Arizona wants. The latest veto? A massive tax relief bill that removes taxes on tips and helps parents and seniors.
That is how you help the cost-of-living crisis- but Hobbs vetoed it!
That said, we are not stopping. The people of Arixona MUST be heard.
A bill that Hobbs has vetoed before is about to make a comeback!
I recently voted yes on SB 1038, making clear that the fight for election transparency and election integrity is not optional and will not be abandoned no matter how many times it is vetoed.
SB 1038 requires county recorders to release critical election records within one hour of polls closing, including a public list of who voted and the cast vote record (CVR) in a sortable, unaltered format.
These records do not reveal how anyone voted — they allow the public to verify that election results match the data.
The bill has cleared the Legislature before. It has passed committees, passed floor votes, and survived every step of the legislative process, only to be stopped by a gubernatorial veto.
But a veto does not erase the will of the voters or the duty of the Legislature!
Just because the bill got vetoed last year doesn’t mean we’re not going to run it again and again and again…
The people send us down here to do their work. And so we’re going to continue to revisit these issues because the people want us to represent them.
Katie Hobbs is an arrogant disaster. The disdain she holds the people of Arizona in is alarming.
She may veto. But we will keep working to bring these bills back, sometimes via popular referendum, because the people of AZ have business we need done and we will not let Katie Hobbs stop us!
