John,

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s pivotal role in the fight for racial justice continues to motivate generations of change-makers and justice champions around the globe. Today, on MLK Day, and everyday, we honor his life and legacy.

As neo-segregationists work to sanitize and erase his impact, we remember Dr. King’s dedication to addressing the “triple evils” of racism, poverty and militarism. His mission didn’t stop at desegregation—he was committed to the battle for jobs, housing, and education as critical to our ongoing fight for justice, equality and liberation for Black people. As King stated in March 1968, “What does it profit a man to be able to eat at an integrated lunch counter if he doesn't earn enough money to buy a hamburger and a cup of coffee?”

Dr. King’s words, actions and teachings continue to echo through time, emphasizing the importance of challenging systemic injustices and promoting meaningful change. At Color Of Change, we work every day to make real his call for justice in all areas—organizing people‑powered campaigns, confronting systems that harm our communities, and pushing for real accountability.

But none of that work is possible without supporters who are willing to stand up, stay engaged, and keep the pressure on. Today, as we recognize the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we hope you’ll join us not only in meditating on his powerful words and their continued significance, but also in taking action to support our grassroots movement with a contribution of $25 or more:

In challenging political moments like this one, it can be tempting to give in to despair, which makes it all the more critical for our communities to remember our powerful legacy and draw inspiration from leaders like Dr. King.

Beyond inspiring speeches and letters, Dr. King held a deep understanding of strategy and an expert execution of his vision. From the Montgomery bus boycott that brought a city and industry to its knees to leveraging media as a megaphone for the Civil Rights movements, every day at Color Of Change we strive to learn from Dr. King’s proud legacy and all those that stood with him.

We hold corporations accountable and demand they do more than just steal Dr. King’s voice and image, but implement his demands for treating workers fairly and equally. From the classroom to the ballot box to corporate boardrooms and capitol buildings, King’s work to build power and change the rules is the legacy we honor as we strengthen our movement to make justice real.

John, you’re one of COC’s top supporters, and we’re deeply grateful for your continued support and dedication. Your contribution will help cover the costs of our in-person and virtual training events to build organizing power across the country, and to ensure we have the resources to go toe-to-toe with the powerful, well-funded neo-segregationists who seek to derail our work. Make MLK Day a day of action and generosity with a gift of $25 or more to support our work in 2026 and beyond!
