Email from Trisha 4 CO Solidarity forever. Dr. King once said, “The labor movement was the principal force that transformed misery and despair into hope and progress.” Those words still ring true today. It is a holiday honoring one of the most important figures in American history. A civil rights leader who helped bend the moral arc of this country toward justice for people oppressed simply because of the color of their skin. But Dr. King’s legacy does not stop there. He was a fierce champion for working people and labor unions. He understood that racial justice and economic justice are inseparable. That dignity on the job is a civil right. That democracy does not mean much if working families are crushed while the wealthy and powerful take everything. That’s why the historic march on Washington where he delivered his iconic “I have a Dream” speech was for Jobs and Freedom. Dr. King once said, “The labor movement was the principal force that transformed misery and despair into hope and progress.” Those words still ring true today. And they feel painfully prescient in this moment. Right now, we are living under an administration that is unleashing federal force with no oversight through masked, unidentified agents detaining people, shooting people, and surveilling us online. A president who openly attacks minority communities and even threatens to strip people of their citizenship. A president who is no friend to labor, attacking collective bargaining rights and gutting agencies like OSHA and the National Labor Relations Board, whose sole mission is to protect workers from abuse by the wealthy and the elite. It can feel dark. Overwhelming. Even hopeless at times. But on a day like today, Dr. King’s legacy shines a light forward. He reminds us that progress has never been handed down from the top. It has always been won by ordinary people standing together. Workers organizing. Communities refusing to be silent. People choosing courage over fear. As Dr. King said, “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” That hope is what fuels this campaign. It is why I am running. When I worked with America’s unions at the national AFL-CIO, I fought tirelessly for working families. That fight is a relentless force behind our campaign. My opponent Lauren Boebert has been enabling Trump’s racist and anti-labor agenda. And that’s why she is more vulnerable than she has ever been. Boebert is only in Congress because of 546 votes. In 2024 when I faced Boebert, our campaign outperformed VP Kamala Harris by nearly seven points. Now our campaign just outraised her by over a million dollars. If you are able, I am asking you to make a contribution of $25, $15 or whatever is meaningful to you today in honor of Dr. King’s legacy. Your support helps us fight for workers, protect our communities, and keep pushing this country toward justice, dignity, and equality for all.   If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly: Donate $5 Donate $25 Donate $100 Donate $15 Donate $50 Donate Other Or multiply your impact with a monthly contribution to defeat Lauren Boebert.   In solidarity, Trisha Calvarese Democrat for CO-04 Trisha Calvarese is the Democrat running against Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.
