ICE is on a fascist rampage in Minnesota and across the country, John.
Over and over, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem has defended and encouraged ICE agents’ racist, chaotic, and murderous behavior.
After ICE shot and killed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis last week, Noem immediately smeared Good as a “domestic terrorist” and pushed a false narrative disproved by video and eyewitness testimony in an attempt to justify this murder.
She’s since sent even more ICE agents to Minnesota to terrorize communities, and is now saying Americans everywhere must be ready to show their papers to prove their citizenship.
Articles of impeachment have already been introduced against Noem for her obstruction of Congress, violation of public trust, and self-dealing. So far, at least 80 House Democrats have signed on, including Justice Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota’s 5th district.
In Ilhan’s words, justice and accountability “begin with impeaching Kristi Noem and ensuring no federal agent can act as judge, jury, and executioner in our streets."
We know that simply sending a letter won’t be enough to rein in ICE, but it’s an important tool we can use to build public pressure on those in power. Adding your name will take you less than a minute, but thousands of signatures add up fast.
It’s still Abolish ICE, and Noem’s impeachment is the first step.
Impeachment hearings would bring evidence out into the open. Millions of Americans would see the full extent of ICE’s assault on our country. That’s how we build a congressional majority that will actually put a stop to ICE once and for all.
