Hi John,

This past month, Louisiana joined Missouri and Florida in filing yet another federal lawsuit against mifepristone, one of two abortion pills commonly used in medication abortions. Despite the sweeping evidence that proves mifepristone’s safety and efficacy, states continue to file baseless attacks on the drug in an effort to restrict access to abortion. If federal judges grant these states’ motions, then abortion seekers all across the country could lose access to telemedicine abortion care, or with the case of Florida v. FDA, undo the FDA’s approval of mifepristone altogether. [1] Telehealth abortion care made up 27% of all abortions in the first half of 2025, and nearly 63% of all abortions nationwide are medication abortions. [2,3] It’s a new year – which means legal attacks on abortion pills are escalating and taking shape. We won’t let them win. Together, we can fight back against these federal lawsuits and support political and community-based efforts to stand up to the anti-abortion agenda. This year, let’s continue to protect abortion pills in our community and in our courts.
