Dear Friend,
A year ago, when Trump returned to office, tens of thousands of Earthjustice advocates like you pledged to fight for our climate future.
Putting a climate denier in the White House did not change the fact that the climate crisis is accelerating. Fossil fuel burning is warming our planet at record speed and driving deadly weather events that are causing economic devastation in our communities. And Trump’s hard pivot from clean energy toward fossil fuels will only make the situation more urgent.
After the election, communities that had fought relentlessly for clean air, safe drinking water, and protection from hazardous chemicals braced for another assault on public health and environmental safeguards.
You knew what was at stake, and you kept up the pressure.
In the last year, more than 360,000 people have sent millions of letters to lawmakers speaking up for environmental justice, healthy communities and ecosystems, and our rights to clean air and water.
- The Roadless Rule is overwhelmingly popular with the American public. So, when the U.S. Forest Service proposed to rollback this land conservation policy — putting more than 45 million acres of pristine lands in national forests at risk of logging — you spoke up by sending tens of thousands of public comments.
- When the administration announced it wanted to make climate denialism the EPA’s official stance by repealing the Endangerment Finding, over half a million comments were submitted — over 90,000 from Earthjustice alone — speaking out against it.
- In California, Earthjustice advocates helped pass two key laws: one to lower energy bills and protect consumers from utility exploitation, and another that puts us on the path for industrial decarbonization, showing what public advocacy can achieve at a state level.
- And when the Trump administration announced another attack on the Endangered Species Act, you jumped into action. More than 55,000 of you sent in public comments sending a clear message to the administration that you support habitat protections for endangered species.
|
Your voices made a difference this past year.
With three more years left of this term, we will keep fighting to preserve the substantial environmental progress we've made.
Keep taking action and continue to make your voice heard. Right now polluters and their allies in Congress are trying to gut crucial environmental protections. We must hold our elected officials accountable and remind them to take bold action that reflects the will of their constituents — because the future of our health, lives, and planet depends on it.
