Today, the New PA Project Education Fund is commemorating the life and work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King dedicated his life to being a leader in the civil rights movement until his life was taken from us too soon. He showed the world that community organizing can lead to critical changes in our democracy that lift up the most vulnerable and protect basic human rights and freedoms.
While we once again find our democracy in peril, we are dedicated to honoring Dr. King’s legacy and stay firm in our commitment of ensuring full participation in the democratic process through civic education and year-round engagement by centering Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, those who are justice impacted, immigrant communities and the youth - with intention - as they are the least represented and most impacted by decisions our government is making.
In his honor, you can find our teams out on the ground across PA assisting eligible Pennsylvanians in registering to vote at the following events:
Western region:
Allegheny County - Kelly Strayhorn Theater in Pittsburgh
Erie County - MLK parade downtown
Capital region:
York County - Crispus Attucks Community Center
Dauphin County - Goodwin Baptist Church in Harrisburg
Collar counties region:
Delaware County - "Reclaiming the Dream" Event at Widener University
Philadelphia - Global Citizen MLK event
We are honored to commemorate Dr. King and Mrs. Coretta Scott King’s lives and legacy today and every day by actively engaging Pennsylvanians on the ground all across the Commonwealth to ensure full participation in the democratic process.
Thank you for joining us in this fight, and happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Action!
In solidarity,
Team NPPEF
