ARLINGTON CHAMBER BOARD MEMBER APPOINTED DEPUTY SECRETARY OF FINANCE

The Arlington Chamber congratulates Board of Directors member James Heo on his appointment by Governor Abigail Spanberger as Deputy Secretary of Finance for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In this role, James will help prepare and execute the Commonwealth’s budget, forecast and collect revenue, and manage Virginia’s investments — work that closely aligns with the Chamber’s state-level advocacy priorities.

As James steps away from his service on our Board to take on this significant responsibility, we thank him for his leadership and congratulate him on this well-deserved appointment. His new role underscores the importance of strong business voices helping shape public policy at a pivotal time in Richmond.

We encourage our members to join us in Richmond on February 4 for Chamber Day at the Capitol, where we will engage directly with leaders and advance the interests of our business community.

SMALL BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE: DE-MYSTIFY AI

Wednesday, January 28 I 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. I Virtual

In this session, Brendan Reece from Mosaic Consulting Group will explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) and focus on how to utilize it for small and mid-sized businesses. Attendees will learn how to think about AI in practical terms, map everyday business problems to the right tools, and see real examples of low-risk automations that can be implemented immediately, including creative generation, email and document handling, CRM updates, and content creation.

The session will demystify AI agents: what they are, what they aren’t, and when they actually make sense. It will also look ahead at what’s coming for SMBs over the next 12–24 months in AI and how business owners can position themselves to stay competitive.

We are grateful to our members who have recently renewed their membership with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Your continued support strengthens our business community and helps us advocate, connect, and grow together.
