In times like these, I know it can feel like small, individual actions can’t make a difference. That the politicians running the show in DC are too powerful, too isolated for any single person to make a difference. But that’s not true at all, John. And Pennsylvania would know. 250 years ago, a group of Americans gathered in Philadelphia to declare its independence from the most powerful empire in the world. Just a small handful of people had the courage to tell the entire world that we had the power to determine America’s future. Not a king. Not a tyrant. I think about that story a lot, John. Because I see so many parallels between then and now. I see how small, individual actions — the decision to join a campaign, the courage to protest peacefully, the bravery to speak out against injustice — have added up and changed Pennsylvania for the better.
