I woke up in a great mood.
Yesterday, my friend Abigail Spanberger was sworn in as Virginia’s first female governor.
Abigail and I were both elected to Congress in the blue wave of 2018. We’d both just come out of long careers in national security, and were juggling the demands of public service while raising young daughters. It’s because I know Abigail well that I’m confident she will be the steady, fearless champion Virginians need and deserve.
It was a delight to watch her achieve this historic goal, and I look forward to being her supporter, friend, and ally over these next four years!
Let this mark the start of a new chapter for Virginia.
A quick note before I go:
One of the best ways to support Governor Spanberger is to elect a Democratic majority to Congress in November.
We only need to flip three seats to do it, and Virginia’s 2nd District is one of our best pickup opportunities in the entire country.
A strong majority will ensure federal programs like SNAP and Medicaid are funded, and protect states’ rights to govern themselves. Please chip in whatever you can to support my battleground campaign and ensure Governor Spanberger has trustworthy allies on Capitol Hill.
