This week Donald Trump doubled down on his disdain for democracy, claiming
that “we shouldn’t even have an election” this November.
And in recent weeks, he’s signed executive orders attempting to ban voting
by mail — one of the most common ways that people cast their ballots, with
some states (including my home state of WA!) voting almost exclusively by
mail.
Over and over again, Donald Trump has refused to accept the most basic
principle of democracy: the people decide our leaders. Not the other way
around.
🗳️ Mail-in ballots let people safely vote without Trump’s thugs
intimidating them in long lines.
🗳️ People can vote on their schedule — and still go to work, care for
family, and live their lives.
🗳️ Universal vote-by-mail raises voter turnout by putting a ballot
directly into every voter’s hands.
That’s why Trump hates it. I’m doing everything I can to continue holding
Trump accountable for his actions on January 6th while also defending our
democracy right now. But that work takes resources, and I’m counting on
this people-powered movement — not billionaires or corporate PACs — to
help me keep going.
