Derrick Van Orden is terrified he’s going to lose re-election. Now, he’s in a race against the clock to take performative votes.
For example, DVO proudly advertises on his website (and has put out recent statements) that he voraciously supports the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. But the other day, he voted to protect ACA subsidies because he’s afraid of what his constituents would say if he didn’t.
From his votes over the last year, it is apparent that DVO doesn’t care about getting his constituents quality, affordable healthcare. He voted for significant cuts to healthcare in Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”. He has not been trying to problem solve this healthcare crisis we are in. Because of Van Orden’s and other Republicans' negligence, people’s monthly healthcare costs have more than doubled and ACA enrollment has dropped for the first time in 4 years.
All this, means more people are paying more for healthcare or are going without healthcare insurance. Recent estimates indicate that nearly 1.5 million Americans have dropped off ACA coverage.
He’s playing politics with our healthcare, and it’s not acceptable.
