John,

It was another productive week standing up for life, fairness, and the rule of law. I worked to protect pregnancy resource centers, defend women’s sports, and support ICE agents doing dangerous and necessary work. Here are the highlights from the week.

Wednesday night, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was ambushed and violently attacked while carrying out a lawful enforcement stop, proving once again how dangerous this job has become. Federal officials reported the agent was attempting to arrest a man who illegally entered the United States from Venezuela when the suspect tried to flee and then, along with two others, physically assaulted the officer with a snow shovel and a broom handle. The attack was so severe that the agent fired a defensive shot to protect his life. All three men involved in the assault were in the country illegally. This incident is what happens when politicians and activists treat ICE as the enemy instead of the criminals they are trying to remove from our communities. Our federal officers deserve respect and full support as they enforce the law. Violence against ICE agents must be condemned clearly and completely, and reckless sanctuary policies that encourage defiance of federal law must end.

I was proud to see the House Ways and Means Committee advance my legislation, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women Act, to protect pregnancy resource centers from being targeted and discriminated against by Washington bureaucrats. By passing out of the Ways and Means Committee, the bill has officially completed the committee process and is now eligible for a vote before the full House of Representatives. Pregnancy resource centers stand on the front lines of the pro-life movement, offering real help—counseling, prenatal support, diapers, formula, housing assistance, and hope—to women and families choosing life for their children. Yet the Biden administration tried to block them from receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funding because they do not promote abortion. My bill pushes against that bias and ensures federal policy remains neutral and fair, so states can partner with organizations that defend both mothers and unborn babies. Being pro-life means walking alongside women before and after birth with compassion and practical support. This legislation protects that mission and ensures future administrations cannot undermine the life-supporting work pregnancy centers do every day.

This week the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in cases challenging state laws that protect women’s and girls’ sports, and the Court appears poised to uphold those protections. This is good news for fairness, safety, and basic biological reality. Allowing biological males to compete in women’s athletics is fundamentally unfair to female athletes. It is unsafe in contact sports where size and strength differences matter. And it defies common sense and basic science to pretend there are no physical differences between men and women. These laws simply recognize what Americans have always known: that women’s sports exist to give girls equal opportunity, not to take it away. I have backed that principle in Congress every step of the way, proudly voting for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act and voting for earlier versions of the legislation to ensure Title IX protects women’s athletics for biological females. I will continue to stand up against radical policies that sacrifice truth and fairness on the altar of political correctness.

As always, thank you for your continued trust and support. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with anything.

With gratitude,

Michelle Fischbach
