America has a housing crisis—and Wall Street is making it worse.

Private equity firms are buying up single-family homes nationwide, jacking up rents and making it harder for working- and middle-class families to buy homes. Nearly half of renters are now spending more than 30 percent of their income on housing. That’s not affordable. 

Tell Congress: Protect the American Dream and stop Wall Street landlords.

I’ve just reintroduced the Stop Wall Street Landlords Act, which would ban private equity firms from using taxpayer-funded loans to purchase single-family homes. By blocking these loans, we’d provide Americans with greater access to affordable housing and an opportunity to build wealth through homeownership, bringing us closer to restoring the American Dream.

Housing is not a luxury. It’s a human right. Let’s make sure every American, whether they own or rent, has a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home.
