Today, Ghazala Hashmi is going to take the oath of office — and when she does, she will become the first Muslim woman ever elected to serve in statewide office in the history of America.

Not only did Ghazala FLIP one of the most competitive seats in the country from red to blue — she did it while overcoming racist attacks from the GOP and laying out a vision for the future in which our rights, our communities, and our democracy are protected and prioritized.

This is exactly what the DLGA was established to do. Flip seats. Make history. And build a truly representative government made up of leaders from all backgrounds, races, and religions.
