John,
We’ve got big news to share! Today, the Virginia State Senate approved a constitutional amendment that would guarantee abortion access in Virginia if voters pass the measure later this year.
After passing in the House of Delegates earlier this week, the amendment passed 21-18 in the Senate today. Virginia law requires that amendments pass in two consecutive legislative sessions prior to being put directly to voters, and this is the second passage.
That means that later this year, Virginia voters will have the opportunity to secure abortion rights in their state, impacting not just Virginians, but patients from across the Southeast who travel for care.
This is an incredible milestone made possible by organizers, activists, and voters across the state, and by grassroots supporters like you, who helped us flip the House of Delegates to pro-choice control in 2023 and grow that majority last year.
Down-ballot elections matter, and it’s grassroots supporters that powered this big win. Our average donation is just $21. If you’re able, please consider joining our team for the work ahead in 2026
Virginia is a blueprint for how we win everywhere, by electing pro-choice champions at the state and local level who will proactively fight to protect our most fundamental rights.
There are hundreds of opportunities in 2026 to build pro-choice political power at the state and local level, many of them in areas that also have key federal races. But none of this work happens without the resources to invest in reaching voters early and often.
Will you donate $20.26 today to fuel the next wave of wins?
With your support, Vote Pro-Choice will be ready to help get this amendment across the finish line, and build on this momentum in races nationwide.
With gratitude and hope,
The Vote Pro-Choice Team
