Cole / Appropriations Committee) | Rep. Loudermilk Co-Sponsored the Following Legislation | H.R. __ - The Freedom To Fuel Act, Rep. Moore (R-AL) In 2007, the EPA introduced a rule that imposed strict evaporative-emissions limits on all portable fuel containers made after January 1, 2009. The rule pushed manufacturers toward complicated, vent-less designs that hinder fuel flow, cause spills, and increase breakage. It also saddled small manufacturers with costly testing and certification requirements. Rep. Moore’s bill will amend the Clean Air Act to clarify the definition of “consumer or commercial product” to explicitly exclude portable fuel containers, fuels, and fuel additives regulated under section 211 of the Clean Air Act as being defined as a “consumer or commercial product.” It also prevents duplicative EPA oversight so that portable gas cans are no longer subject to consumer product emissions controls. | Tax Tips for 2026 Tax Season | Jobs & Career Resources Available in Georgia | Washington DC Office 2133 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Phone: (202) 225-2931 | Woodstock Office 9898 Highway 92 Suite 100 Woodstock, GA 30188 Phone: (770) 429-1776 | Cartersville Office 135 West Cherokee Avenue Suite 122 Cartersville, GA 30120 Phone: (770) 429-1776 | |
