How Do I Know if Classroom Content is Problematic?

ADL has launched

Decode & Disrupt, a comprehensive online toolkit to help educators as well as parents and other caregivers to evaluate the content and materials used to explore Jewish identity, Israel, antisemitism and the Holocaust in classrooms.

This toolkit equips you with the knowledge and confidence to ensure K-12 teaching is grounded in accuracy and balance.

The toolkit provides an overview of several commonly used resources in schools that are problematic. Each analysis identifies areas of incomplete or inaccurate information, suggestions to improve the content and when appropriate, alternative resources to offer. It also includes step-by-step guidance to support a conversation with school leaders or classroom teachers about the content.

MAKING PROGRESS WITH ADL

"Sich be-kennen": ADL and our partners in the German Jewish community have launched a groundbreaking digital learning tool designed to combat antisemitism and foster understanding of Jewish life in Germany. This is a timely new program that comes amid rising antisemitism in Europe that mirrors the dangerous situation in the U.S. and around the world. ADL's Marina Rosenberg explains the potential impact of the “Sich be-kennen” (Yiddish: to get to know oneself) platform: “We’ve helped create an online tool that makes Jewish identity tangible and personal for German students and educators.”

Pro-Hamas Chants Outside NY Synagogue Show Alarming Shift: The explicit celebration of Hamas at a protest targeting a Queens synagogue last week serves as a stark reminder of a disturbing new reality: Pro-terror expressions are becoming openly normalized within the U.S. anti-Israel movement. The ADL Center on Extremism analyzed the demonstration, which was ostensibly a protest of an Israeli real estate event inside the synagogue that quickly devolved into calls to “globalize the intifada” and “say it loud, say it clear, we support Hamas here!”

Increase Security Grants to Protect Synagogues. Four years ago at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, a gunman held the rabbi and congregants hostage. Just days ago, the largest synagogue in Mississippi was targeted in an arson attack. The Nonprofit Security Grant Program helps, but current funding isn’t enough. Hundreds of houses of worship need protection and aren't getting it. Join ADL in urging your Members of Congress to provide at least $500 million for this life-saving security funding.

A historic synagogue was burned. Sacred Torahs destroyed. We are thankful no one was injured, but this wasn't random vandalism — it was a deliberate, targeted attack on the Jewish community. Beth Israel survived a KKK bombing in 1967. That it has been attacked again, amid a surge of antisemitic incidents across the US, is a stark reminder: antisemitic violence is escalating, and it demands total condemnation and swift action from everyone — including community leaders, law enforcement, and government officials. We stand with Beth Israel and Jackson’s Jewish community. An attack on any synagogue is an attack on all Jews. We will not be intimidated. We will not be silent.

@ADL

In light of the nationwide protests across Iran, ADL’s Task Force on Middle East Minorities condemns the Islamic Republic’s violent crackdown and calls on the international community to make clear to the Islamic Republic that it must respect the fundamental rights of the Iranian people. Since late December 2025, protests have erupted across much of Iran. While initially triggered by severe economic distress, the demonstrations reflect deeper, longstanding grievances rooted in decades of violent government repression. Iranian authorities have responded with a brutally violent crackdown. The Iranian diaspora-run Human Rights Activists News Agency and other monitoring groups widely
cited by international media report that security forces have used live ammunition against demonstrators, resulting in large numbers of deaths and mass arbitrary arrests since late December. Reports from CNN, NPR, and the Centre for Human Rights in Iran describe the use of lethal force against demonstrators in multiple cities. Estimates of the regime’s crackdown under the cover of a national internet blackout now range from 2,000 — 12,000 killed — the most violent internal repression in the 47-year history of the Islamic Republic.

ADL welcomes the @AHAhistorians Council’s decision to reject two proposed anti-Israel resolutions ahead of the 2026 Annual Meeting. Together, ADL and @TheAENetwork wrote to the association to express our appreciation for this principled and prudent step, which builds on prior actions that help keep the Association mission-focused. We are also grateful that the Council is taking seriously the concerns of its Jewish and Zionist members.
