** It's only natural that a company interested in providing value to consumers would be interested in natural gas.

CNBC ([link removed]) (1/15/26) reports: "Mitsubishi Corporation said on Friday that it will acquire shale gas assets in the U.S. in a $7.53 billion deal, including debt, as the Japanese trading house looks to build on its presence in the country’s energy market. Mitsubishi is looking to capitalize on rising power needs from data centers, manufacturing, as well as LNG exports, by expanding in the the world’s largest gas market, citing domestic consumption, production, exports, and further demand growth. It will acquire the assets from Aethon Energy Management in Texas and Louisiana in a transaction that includes $5.2 billion in equity purchases and $2.33 billion in Aethon’s debt. Mitsubishi’s deal comes after Japan’s largest power generation company, JERA, announced a $1.5 billion investment in October in the Haynesville Shale basin on the Louisiana-Texas border, as part of Tokyo’s $550 billion investment pledge to the
U.S. Last month, Japanese media outlet Nikkei reported that projects in the energy sector were likely candidates for Japan’s investment pledge, although it was not immediately clear if Mitsubishi’s deal counts toward the proposed investment."

** "The reality is that we have spent years building essentially worthless capacity, throwing away money and the backbone of our economy along with it. The failure by policymakers and grid planners has been so severe that serious energy policy proposals are increasingly centered on preventing energy-intensive industries from growing, rather than finding ways to support and integrate them."

More computing means more energy.

(1/13/26) reports: "Hydrocarbons are set to meet about three-quarters of the expected 500% surge in power demand from data centers, as the AI boom and global economic growth push energy demand 'accelerating across every dimension,' Sultan Al Jaber, ADNOC chief executive, said on Tuesday. The surge in AI use and the data centers to handle the technologies are set to boost power demand from data centers by 500% by 2040, Al Jaber, who is also UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, said at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Soaring power demand means oil and gas will play a major role in supporting the growth for decades, the official noted.'Over 70 per cent of this energy will still come from hydrocarbons,' Al Jaber said at the forum, as carried by The National."

Do as I say, not as I do, especially when it comes to the new Kamala HQ.

** Washington Free Beacon ([link removed])
(1/15/26) reports: "Former vice president Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff purchased an $8 million mansion in an exclusive oceanside Malibu neighborhood last month. The move came after Harris spent years warning that such communities could be threatened by the 'climate crisis.' A real estate listing for the mansion, reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon, says the luxury pad is 'perched in a prime coastal location' with 'breathtaking ocean views.' The property sits right near a coastline that—according to climate scenarios endorsed by Harris—is at risk of facing extreme flooding. A climate model issued by the Biden-Harris administration determined that Point Dume State Beach, the beach a short walk from Harris's new property, would be severely damaged by sea level rise even under the model's most modest projections. The Trump administration discontinued that model in June 2025...Harris's new home boasts many of the same luxuries that the Biden-Harris administration targeted with
burdensome regulations. Listing photos reviewed by the Free Beacon show the mansion features a gas-powered stove and fireplace. The Biden-Harris administration introduced regulations that would have banned half of the gas stove models on the market. The home also has a tankless water heater. The Biden-Harris administration finalized regulations in its final weeks that would have banned roughly 40 percent of the tankless water heaters on the market."

Venezuela’s Oil and the Monroe Doctrine.

(1/14/26) blog: "On January 2, at 10:46 pm, the United States initiated Operation Absolute Resolve, leading to the capture of former President Maduro of Venezuela. Along with his wife, Maduro was extracted from Caracas and relocated to New York, where he has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States. Leading up to the capture of President Maduro, the United States began enforcing sanctions on Venezuelan oil tankers by seizing ships such as the Skipper on December 21, 2025, which was carrying two million barrels of oil to Matanzas, Cuba. Utilizing a shadow fleet of illegal vessels, Maduro’s regime had been supplying America’s adversaries with heavily discounted oil. These adversaries include China and Cuba, both of which boast atrocious records of human rights violations."
