Color Of Change knows this moment demands more than statements

Dear Friend,

Our  country is being reshaped through fear. ICE is terrorizing our communities. Families are being torn apart. State violence is being normalized through media, culture, and policy that tells us cruelty is inevitable and resistance is futile. This administration is betting that if they push hard enough, scare us enough, if they exhaust us enough that we will comply.

But compliance is consent and we refuse. Color Of Change knows this moment demands more than statements. It demands interruption.

On January 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM local time, people across the country will walk out of work, school, and commerce as part of the nationwide #FreeAmerica Walkout, organized with partners including Women’s March. This is a coordinated act of noncompliance. This will send Donald Trump and his cronies an unmistakable message that there will be no business as usual under fascism.

Here’s how you can take action:

  • Commit to the Walkout. Walk out of work, of school, or commerce on January 20 at 2 PM local time.
  • Host or Join a Local Action: Find or organize a walkout in your community.
  • Spread the Word: Use the Free America toolkit—graphics, flyers, and templates–to mobilize others.

The harm to our communities is already here–and Black communities will certainly be the ones paying the price first and the harshest.  We are watching ICE escalate raids, detentions, and killings with impunity. Black immigrants, Black workers, Black families, and Black neighborhoods are being targeted and destabilized while corporations and billionaires continue business as usual. This is the fascist playbook in action: by draining our time, labor, money, and attention—until we have nothing left to give except silence.

Accountability starts when we withdraw what they rely on. Our labor is leverage.
Our participation is power. Our consent is not guaranteed. We have the opportunity to demonstrate this come January 20.

A free America begins the moment we refuse to cooperate.

Until Justice Is Real,

Color Of Change
