Friend,
Iowa Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks is proud to be the lead sponsor of a GOP health care bill that did nothing to address dramatic premium increases for folks with Affordable Care Act policies, AND she voted against the bill the House just passed to extend health care tax credits.
So we aren’t surprised that her solution to the skyrocketing cost of health care is simply don’t go to the doctor.
Miller-Meeks actually said: “When there is a co-pay and a deductible, there's some skin in the game, patients don't over utilize.”
“Skin in the game” is the phrase Republicans use when they’re trying to take away people’s health care, or their food and rent assistance. It’s how they justify forcing people to jump through bureaucratic hoops and pay more for the basic necessities of life: they seem to think folks will appreciate it all more if they have to suffer to get it.
That never applies to their billionaire cronies when it comes time to paying their fair share of taxes, however.
Apparently they’re all exempt from needing to have “skin in the game” for our democracy.
Miller-Meeks has been pretending to be one of the leaders in developing the so-far non-existent Republican health care plan, so she can deflect from the fact that her party is making health care costs astronomical for Iowans. She’s hoping her constituents will ignore it the same way she’s ignoring them.
If you're fed up with sky-high health care costs, join us in pushing Congress to act. [[link removed]]

The more supporters we have on our side participating in the democratic process and speaking up, the better we can drown out the lies. This is how we flip the script and win the midterms. Thanks,
