Dear John,
Today, we joined with community partners to commemorate a moment of historic significance as we gathered with Los Angeles Muslim leaders, civil rights advocates, and civic community leaders for the historic unveiling of the Muhammad Ali U.S. Postal Service commemorative stamp. There will be two versions available for purchase, both designed by USPS Art Director Antonio Alcalá.
This tribute honors the life, legacy, and global impact of one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. We were joined by Najee Ali of Project Islamic Hope and Frank Oliver, Faith-Based Liaison Deputy in the Office of Councilmember Heather Hutt.
“The stamp will educate future generations about Ali’s legacy beyond the boxing ring — as a man of conscience who stood firmly for faith, freedom, and human rights.” — Salam Al-Marayati, President, Muslim Public Affairs Council

Muhammad Ali’s faith deeply shaped his values and sense of purpose, guiding him to live with conscience and conviction. His faith values informed his refusal to fight in the Vietnam War, his outspoken opposition to racism and injustice, and his commitment to dignity and self-determination, even at great personal cost. His legacy is defined by moral courage, compassion, and principled action beyond the boxing ring.
During his remarks, President Salam Al-Marayati reiterated that Muhammad Ali
“used his platform for peace, and we’re all grateful to God to bring us this generational leader and champion for truth and justice”.
The U.S. Postal Service commemorative stamp serves as a lasting reminder of Muhammad Ali’s contributions to American history and culture. At a time when diversity is under assault and rampant Islamophobia threatens the safety and dignity of Muslim communities, this moment stands as a counterpoint, uplifting the contributions of American Muslims to society and affirming the enduring values that are the hallmark of this great nation.
In service,
Rebecca Husaini
MPAC Vice President of Operations and Administration
