Hi John,
The House of Representatives is expected to vote NEXT WEEK on Rep. Stauber’s bill (H.J. Res 140) to overturn the 20-year mining ban that protects the Boundary Waters.
If this resolution passes, more than 225,000 acres of the Superior National Forest could be reopened to sulfide-ore copper mining near the Boundary Waters. The resolution wouldn't only eliminate current protections — it would also prevent future administrations from ever using the same safeguards on this area again.
This is happening fast. Every representative needs to hear from constituents immediately.
The timeline: Rules Committee vote: TUESDAY, January 20 Full House vote: Expected next week Congressional offices track call volume closely. A surge of opposition can change votes. But we need it NOW.
