All eyes are on Minnesota as brutal ICE raids continue to tear communities and families apart. Why is this important? Because the same neighbors protecting your abortion access are the ones out in the streets protecting their immigrant neighbors! So don’t feel hopeless, get helpful. We’ve gathered some resources in our Linktree for you to support the resistance and get in the fight… no matter where you are! 

It was also a MIGHTY big news week in the abobosphere, with medication abortion taking center stage.

Over a Hundred Studies vs. Several Very Loud Tantrums
If you were thinking that you’d love to watch two hours of bullshit, then boy did conservatives in the Senate deliver! During an over two hour long Senate hearing on the safety of abortion pills, anti-abortion lawmakers tried to smear the good work of abortion pills, despite the fact that dozens and dozens of studies confirm their safety. Their embarrassing histrionics that would make even our freshman drama teacher cringe was ultimately for one singular purpose: ban abortion pills for good. Of course, when you’re actually a cartoon villain, you’re not content with only one absurd attack, these assholes had to throw trans folks in the mix, too, with the incessant, transphobic “Can men get pregnant?” nonsense! 

Here’s the truth, folks: they’re peddling nonsense! It’s all malarkey! Their transphobia, claims that adverse events are underreported, and that abortion pills are unsafe… this was all just a culmination of a YEARS LONG coordinated anti-abortion campaign that we refuse to buy into. If you want to get technical, it's all a bunch of lies on lies on lies, and we ain’t buying it.

Is the Doctor the Problem or Is It You?
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, before testifying in that sham Senate hearing, issued an extradition order for a California doctor for prescribing abortion pills to someone in the state. The potential punishment? Up to 50 years in prison! Much like the NY provider facing the same nonsense threats from Texas, the docs are protected by “shield laws,” which provide legal protection from other states’ backwards, overreaching laws. WHY ARE Y’ALL SO TRIGGERED BY CITIZENS GETTING HEALTHCARE?

Perhaps they need some reminders: Louisiana ranks dead last in education while Texas has a power grid on the brink of collapse. Maybe, just maybe, these folks should focus on actually improving the lives of their citizens instead of terrorizing out-of-state providers who are already doing it for them. Just a thought!
