2026 Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition

Feb. 9 - Aug. 8

________________________________________________________________________

The 2026 Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition opens on Feb. 9 in the Wyoming Capitol Gallery.

The exhibition features 62 contemporary works by 53 Wyoming artists. The artwork was selected from 383 submissions by guest juror Kate Hlavin, Curator of the Coors Western Art Exhibit and Sale in Denver, and is available for public purchase.

Part of Wyoming’s tribute to America’s 250th anniversary, this year’s exhibit celebrates the state’s landscapes, communities, and people who call it home.

A public reception, where awards will be announced, is scheduled for Feb. 26 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition will be on view until Aug. 8.

Wyoming's Liberty Bell Conservation

________________________________________________________________________

Did you know that every U.S. state was gifted a replica Liberty Bell by the Harry Truman administration in celebration of a US Savings Bond drive in 1950?

After touring the state that year, Wyoming's Liberty Bell was located at the southwest corner of the State Capitol from 1950 to 2018. During the Capitol renovations, the bell was moved to storage, and the Wyoming State Parks department performed some restoration and repairs to the armature that holds the bell.

The bell was then placed in front of the State Museum last July. An artifact conservation firm was hired in 2025 to clean and perform maintenance on the bell itself. They removed layers of dirt, graffiti, and rust spots that had accumulated on the bell over the decades while it was on display outside.

Please take a closer look at this historic artifact next time you visit the Museum, and be sure to check out the Liberty Bells in other states during your travels.
