Dear Friend,

So many of you have been calling my office, sending letters, and commenting on social media that action needs to be taken and that the Trump administration must be stopped. I want you to know that I hear you loud and clear. I have been fighting since day one to ensure this reckless administration does no further harm to our communities. Here’s an update on some new actions I’ve taken this week.

I offered three amendments to the House’s minibus package, a bill that funds parts of the government. The first amendment would forbid U.S. troops from hostilities within or against any sovereign nation within the Western Hemisphere that has not been directly approved by Congress. President Trump’s unlawful attack on Venezuela and capture of Nicolas Maduro—under the guise of the very real need to combat international drug trafficking—was nothing more than a ploy to reimpose imperialism in the nation’s oil business and is just one example of these unlawful actions.

Since the attack, we have heard nothing about fighting the drug trade, but we have seen top oil companies at the White House and demands for them to invest $100 billion and resume drilling. And, Trump is nowexpanding the Donroe Doctrine to Greenland, and threatening a NATO ally, Denmark. He said that he was going “to do something on Greenland, whether they like it or not.” A hostile takeover would not only further defy Trump’s campaign promise for no more foreign wars but would also violate the NATO alliance that has kept the U.S. and our allies secure since 1949. Let us not forget—an attack against any NATO member is considered an attack against all.

Secondly, I offered an amendment that would protect the Federal Reserve and Jerome Powell from Trump’s attacks. It would prevent any of the funds in the minibus package from being used by any officer of the U.S. to interfere with the Fed’s independence or to share false or misleading information regarding monetary policy or the Fed’s leadership. The Federal Reserve is an independent entity that sets our monetary policy—not another agency lapdog for Trump to do his bidding.

My last amendment would ensure a full audit and accounting of DOGE’s activities that have overstepped Congress’s constitutional authorities, like the dismantling of federal agencies that led to the firing of thousands of federal workers. It will rein in OMB’s unconstitutional rescissions and reassert Congress’s power of the purse. Elon Musk’s DOGE effort has left lasting impacts on Americans all across the country, but the grift isn’t over yet. The Department of Defense just announced his GrokAI will be integrated into the Pentagon’s networks. First, he took our most sensitive data, and now he is toying with our most closely guarded national security secrets. We must ensure data breaches like this never happen again.

Finally, as I mentioned in my last newsletter, I am joining Congresswoman Robin Kelly and 70 other members of Congress in filing articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Secretary Noem has led a terror campaign against our communities for too long. From warrantless raids to the tragic use of force against U.S. citizens and immigrants, it is clear she is not fit to lead the Department of Homeland Security. This harm must be stopped.

I will never stop fighting for you, for our country, and for our democracy.
