John, not going to lie, there is a lot happening in our country right now — most of which is hard to watch and process. It’s easy to check out or get angry with everything going on, but we can come together and stand up to this administration's authoritarianism.
There is power in our collective voice.
In the wake of the deadly ICE shooting in Minneapolis last week, hundreds of thousands of people marched in the streets all across the country, demanding that ICE stop terrorizing our communities and be held accountable for their deadly actions.

Young people are leading the way and organizing these protests. As more events are planned for the future, here at NextGen,we want to make sure you know your rights if you’re going out to demonstrate:
- You do not need a permit to protest on public streets or sidewalks if you are not obstructing traffic or access to buildings.
- You have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including police.
- If stopped by police, ask if you are free to go. If yes, then calmly walk away.
- If arrested, ask for a lawyer immediately. Don’t sign, say, or agree to anything without a lawyer present.
Please save, bookmark, and share this email so you and your friends know your rights when protesting.
And if you couldn’t make it to a march this past weekend, there are other ways for you to take action and stand up for justice, our democracy, equality, and hold the powerful accountable. From contacting your representatives to emailing the White House and beyond, we are speaking out to prioritize our generation's needs. Check out the ACLU's Protesters’ Rights resources to see all the ways you can make your voice heard.
Thank you for all you do and for speaking up for what is right,
