These emails are the best way for our campaign to stay in touch with supporters like you. If you'd prefer, you can unsubscribe here. Herbert, can I get personal for a moment? I’d like to share a bit about my story with you.
I’m Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi — and I’m a religious and ethnic minority immigrant with 29 letters in my name. Growing up in Peoria, Illinois, I learned what it’s like to be an outsider. I didn’t see many people like me in positions of power. But then, I got my start in Illinois politics working for a man named Barack Obama. We were both children of immigrants from Illinois with funny names – we had a lot in common. Back then, people told him that he was an unlikely candidate for office. But despite the doubters, he proved that in this country, nothing is impossible. That lesson inspired me to run for office. And against all odds, I won, becoming Illinois' first Indian-American Congressman. And now I’m running for Senate — where I would be the ONLY South Asian-American Senator and one of just a handful with an immigrant background. Look, now more than ever, representation matters. At a time when Donald Trump is cruelly attacking immigrants and anyone who doesn’t look like his personal vision of America — we need a Senate that stands up for dignity and equality. But the MAGA movement doesn’t want people who look like me or have stories like mine anywhere near the Senate. Over the course of this campaign, I’ve been the subject of racist attacks, and they’re gearing up to spend hundreds of millions to defeat Democrats like me. So I need to ask: Please, will you help me fight back and win this race by pitching in $10 or more?
Thank you for standing with me, Raja Krishnamoorthi
