Happy new year! As we step into 2026, we're deeply grateful for your continued support of our work to expand voter participation through civic education across the Commonwealth. 

Every year is election year, so our work is never done. Despite the ongoing challenges to our democratic systems, we’re energized and ready to take on the new year.

Before we turn the page on 2025, we’re proud to share a few highlights from the past year.

Assisted 8,014 Pennsylvanians in registering to vote.

Hosted 18 "Why Courts and Judicial Elections Matter" presentations

Plus, we traveled to eight counties as part of the "Why Courts Matter Road Show".

Organized more than 200 virtual and in-person community events.

Including candidate forums, town halls, community conversations, webinars, and voter registration drives.

Knocked on 10,644 doors between May 9th-20th, 2025 in five regions

As part of our non-partisan Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) door knocking program before the primary election. 

In 2026, NPPEF will continue our nonpartisan efforts to expand the electorate through voter registration, education, and advocacy—ensuring that every eligible Pennsylvanian has the tools to make their voice heard.

Exciting things to look out for in 2026:

• More community events: town halls, candidate forums, and more.
• Advocacy about increasing minimum wage, court integrity, environmental justice, and pro-voter legislation to make voting more accessible in our communities.
• Our May Get-Out-The-Vote door knocking program to mobilize our communities for the primary election on May 19th.

• Our new 2026 voter guides, available for free in person and on our website.

• Reaching an ambitious goal of assisting 13,000 Pennsylvanians in getting registered to vote.

Pennsylvania Rejects Federal “Administrative Warrants” and Restores Renters’ Privacy
“The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court held last month in Rivera v. Borough of Pottstown that Article I, Section 8 of the state constitution requires individualized probable cause before government officials may enter an occupied home without the resident’s consent. It might be hard to believe such a ruling is newsworthy — let alone the first of its kind in the country. Yet the court, in a unanimous en banc opinion, reached that conclusion only by declining to follow the U.S. Supreme Court’s longstanding approval of so-called administrative warrants, or warrants issued without any suspicion of wrongdoing.”

Judge says Trump administration can't block child care, other program money for 5 states for now
A federal judge ruled that President Donald Trump's administration cannot block federal money for child care subsidies and other programs aimed at supporting needy children and their families from flowing to five Democratic-led states for now.

1.4 million fewer people enrolled in ACA plans as premiums spike, tax credits expire
Republicans said the expansions from the pandemic era went too far and tried to persuade Democrats to fund a temporary spending bill that didn't address the expiring ACA subsidies, with promises of discussing ways to continue the subsidies later.

New laws in 2026 target AI and deepfakes, paid leave and rising Obamacare premiums
Some states are looking for ways to soften the blow of higher health care premiums as Affordable Care Act tax subsidies expire after Congress failed to extend them. And on the verge of the coming year’s midterm elections, a slew of more restrictive voting laws are taking effect. Here are some of the laws that go live in 2026.
