Dear John
Next week Labor’s so-called antisemitism bill will be introduced to
Parliament. It does little to combat antisemitism and a great deal to
destroy free speech.
The bill explicitly exempts hate preaching when it is framed as a
quotation from a religious text. That means radical Islamist
preachers can continue to promote hatred and violence,
provided they hide behind scripture. Ordinary Australians,
however, will not enjoy the same protection.
Although the Greens have said they don’t support it, watch this
space. All they want to be kept happy are broad and sweeping additions
that make every one of their pet hobbyhorses included in the
definition of “hate,” including “ageism.”
So rushed was this legislation that Labor could not even spell
antisemitism correctly on the first page. Many suspect the bill was
drafted using ChatGPT, with telltale signs littered throughout the
text.
If the aim were truly to combat antisemitism, particularly in light
of the Bondi terror attack, this bill might be worth considering.
Instead, it fails at that task entirely.
Its reach is sweeping and vague. The number of grey areas around
what speech is permitted and what is criminalised is almost limitless.
That uncertainty is not accidental.
At its core, the bill is designed to shut down debate on
immigration. Criticism of immigration levels, no matter how measured
or reasonable, will be treated as criminal conduct.
As Senators Bell and Hanson warned this week, even saying
“Australia is the greatest nation” could attract a prison sentence of
up to five years under Labor’s wording.
The bill also contains insidious provisions targeting law-abiding
firearms owners, while doing nothing to keep guns out of the hands of
terrorists. Criminals and extremists are untouched. Compliant citizens
are punished.
Meanwhile, hate preachers are effectively given a green light to
continue quoting passages that call for violence against other
Australians.
The reality is this. Labor and the Greens are pursuing a
Soviet-style model of governance, where dissent is silenced and
ideological conformity is enforced. They hate free speech, hate
opposition, and hate Australians who refuse to comply.
Above all, they hate losing power.
This bill has nothing to do with protecting communities. It is
about control. It is about repression. It is about power.
And in character and effect, it is Soviet to the
core.

are delivered. Many people ordered over Christmas, while we were
closed. We ask for patience as we upscale our operations, with new
staff coming on board over the next few weeks.
