Hello John,

Minnesota is again in the national spotlight because of violence brought into our communities — most recently the killing of Renee Good by ICE agents last week, followed this week by another ICE involved shooting in North Minneapolis amid heightened federal enforcement. This is not the first time Minnesota has been tested in recent years, and it won't be the last.

It's no surprise Minnesota has been in the federal government's crosshairs, because we represent something authoritarian politics cannot tolerate: a place where people expect better from those in power and from one another.
We show up to vote. We volunteer. We invest in schools, unions, and local services. We look out for our neighbors. We insist on accountability, dignity, and the idea that the law applies to everyone. We don't stay silent.

I've spent my career standing with communities when those values were under attack. I led the fight for Driver's Licenses for All so immigrant families could live and work with dignity. I worked to pass police reform after George Floyd's murder, because accountability matters. Again and again, I've used my position to protect people and strengthen the systems we all rely on.

As St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her put it in endorsing this campaign: “Ryan Winkler is a rare leader: He uses his position to open the door for others, and to encourage them to lead. He has always stood with immigrant and refugee communities, and fought for policies that make our communities stronger. As mayor, I need Ryan as a partner in the Legislature, and Minnesota needs him back working for us.”

Minnesotans will not give in. We protest in the cold, protect our coworkers, and help our neighbors without being asked. No amount of division or fear can break a community that belongs to each other.

Precinct caucuses on February 3rd, 2026 are one of the ways we defend that. If you've already decided to support me, I'm asking you to show up and help move this work forward. If you're still deciding, caucus is a place to listen, ask questions, and choose alongside your neighbors. Things start at 7:00pm sharp, so arrive early if you can!

I hope you'll plan to attend your precinct caucus and consider signing up as a delegate.

Ryan
