Friend, Minnesota has been through so much recently.
We’ve experienced unprecedented amounts of loss and violence. But every tough moment we’ve faced has shown who Minnesotans truly are — people who love our state, and each other.
We are people who run towards danger, not away from it. People who welcome the stranger, not shun them. People who drop everything when you need a helping hand.
We’re a state full of folks who give a damn about each other.
Moms who bring an extra snack for the kids who don’t have one.
Dads who drop everything to shovel your car out of the snow or rake your leaves.
Kiddos who stand out in the cold holding up protest signs on behalf of their classmates who are too afraid to go to school.
Aunties who hold your hand and tell you just how proud they are of you.
Grandmothers who will share their hotdish recipe with you.
Grandfathers who say a prayer for your family, even if they just met you.
Neighbors who welcome you into their restaurant to share a sambusa or horchata — and a laugh.
A whole state of folks who will stand up for each other, no matter what.
The best thing about running statewide, is that I get to meet folks in every corner of my state. I fall more and more in love with Minnesotans every day.
It’s no secret what we’re going through. But I want to share what I am seeing right now: people who are doing all they can to lift each other up in this moment.
To my fellow Minnesotans, I see you — each and every one of you. And I see what we can accomplish together.
I love Minnesota, and I’m ready to fight for it. I hope you are too.
