John – Marie’s people-first, local-first approach to her work in Congress has put her in the national spotlight once again. This week, the New York Times published a comprehensive profile of Marie, the Blue Dogs, and what guides their perspective:

On a July hearing in which Marie proposed an amendment regulating headlight brightness:
“She implored people in the room [Congressional colleagues] to show that they were ‘living in the same reality’ as regular people, and suggested that paying attention to the sense of helplessness or the anger caused by small issues like the proliferation of absurdly bright headlights offered a path to a more profound and potentially radical new style of Democratic politics.”

Marie on the topic of "obstacle fixation” in Democratic politics:
“You do not save democracy by running around, yelling about saving democracy. You do it by demonstrating that democracy and Democratic values deliver better quality of life for normal people.”

This captures exactly why Marie’s leadership resonates with everyday people here in Southwest Washington and nationwide – but it’s also why far-right extremists want to replace her with someone who puts politics above people.

They’ve already started launching attacks against Marie in hopes of flipping WA-03, and we need to fight back. Will you rush in $10 right away to help keep our fundraising on track?
