What’s happening in Minnesota right now is completely heartbreaking.
As you may have heard, the Trump administration began deploying thousands of heavily armed DHS agents to Minnesota last month. These agents are operating out of unmarked cars, wearing masks, and stoking fear.
Since the deployment began, agents have terrorized Minneapolis families in their homes, schools and work place. They’ve shot multiple people, including Renee Good, who was tragically killed last week by a masked ICE agent, and a man who was shot in the leg by an ICE agent just last night.
No one should be above the law – not Donald Trump, not anyone in his administration, and not the ICE agents who violate our constitutional rights and violently enforce Trump’s political agenda. That’s why Minnesota AG Keith Ellison has filed a lawsuit against DHS to block the surge of ICE agents in the city and prevent the agents’ unlawful actions, including militarized raids, excessive use of force, and unconstitutional stops and arrests.
Attorneys General have a unique power to fight back against this reckless and dangerous abuse of power, and thankfully Dem AGs like Keith Ellison are doing just that. With the standing in court to sue the federal government on behalf of their states, they’re fighting back every time this administration breaks the law and puts the American people in harm's way.
Dem AGs don’t have to wait for a compromise or a bipartisan vote — they can take immediate action to protect their states. And they are.
Thank you for supporting Dem AGs at this beyond critical time for our country,
