President's Message

It’s officially 2026—which means we’re one step closer to NASN2026: Stronger Together, June 29–July 2 in Las Vegas! This annual gathering reminds us of the collective power of our profession—our shared commitment to student well-being, our dedication to excellence in practice, and the strength we gain by learning from one another.

The continuing theme of Stronger Together reflects the reality of school nursing today: collaboration is not optional—it's essential. NASN2026 will bring practical strategies, new resources, and fresh insights to enhance your daily practice and support healthier, safer learning environments for all.

I look forward to coming together again to learn, connect, and celebrate the meaningful work you do every day.

Stay tuned and start planning—registration, room block, and the full conference website will open in mid-February.

Lynn Nelson, MSN, RN, NCSN

NASN News and Highlights

Pause and Reflect to Prevent Overwhelm and Burnout

School nurses are facing increasing professional pressures due to the growing complexity of student health needs. The Journal of School Nursing article, "School Nurse Reflections on Visibility, Safety, and Relevance in Modern School Nurse Practice: A Qualitative Study" (Bekaert et al., 2025), explores school nurses' reflections on their roles within the school health team. Findings suggest that restorative reflective sessions can act as a protective factor against burnout. They also underscore the need for systemic investment in school nursing.
