Dear Resource Generation,
From Minneapolis to Venezuela to Iran, the US Government is wreaking pain, destruction, and moral injury this week. The choice to fund war, both at home and abroad, when so many are trying to survive without healthcare, food, and shelter, is unacceptable—and we need to build the power to stop it. As RG members, we may see the painful climb of our investment accounts this week as profiteers pour money into oil companies and military contractors—the contradiction of getting richer off of suffering, off of actions that we abhor is one that we must tackle together, and we’re inviting you into action.
Our partners with the Movement for Black Lives said it well:
“We are now in the realm of raw, uncut imperialism, a reality that has decimated the lives, land, and resources of millions of Black and brown people across the globe. This year marks 250 years of the American project, and this administration has shown they’re committed to continuing and accelerating this nation’s legacy of empire building, violence, and looting of other countries’ resources. But this doesn’t have to be our future.”
We know that RGers are a part of the majority that believes in dignity, safety, and enoughness for all—we’re working with mutual aid efforts to support our neighbors who are afraid to leave their homes, participating in neighborhood ICE watches, protesting US intervention in Venezuela, and more. If you haven’t already, reach out to your chapter to attend an action together this week, join Rising Majority’s Mass Call TONIGHT 8ET/5PT or skill up in bystander intervention or legal observation.
Action is an antidote to despair, and while we have much to mourn this week, we plan to do it together and in motion.
In Solidarity,
The RG Organizing Team
