What’s Really Happening in the West Bank - TODAY

NJN will be hosting a webinar featuring Hagit Ofran, Israel’s leading expert on settlements and the Israeli government’s policies in the Occupied Territories. As co-director of Peace Now’s Settlement Watch program, Hagit has spent decades documenting settlement expansion and tracking the legal and political mechanisms driving de facto annexation. The webinar will take place today, January 15th at 2 PM (Eastern US Time).

NJN Action Alert

No Government Should Block Humanitarian Aid

The Israeli government’s use of humanitarian aid for leverage during the Gaza War has been an outrage.

But now there is a response. Senator Wyden crafted the Accountability for Withholding Aid and Relief Essentials (AWARE) Act with lessons from Gaza in mind. The bill would prevent governments from restricting aid anywhere in the world. When a country does block aid, this bill uses targeted sanctions to hold senior officials accountable. It also sends a strong message to the current Israeli government that it must never again use humanitarian aid as a weapon of war.

Act now. Tell your senators to support the AWARE Act.

Standing Up for Trans Rights

NJN joined a Jewish coalition rallying for trans rights outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday. From the rollback on abortion rights to the threats to marriage equality, faith has been used to argue against our rights. That’s one reason we, as progressive Jews, showed up on Tuesday: we won’t allow religion to be weaponized against vulnerable members of our community.

Donate to Beth Israel's Rebuilding Efforts

This past Saturday, Mississippi's largest synagogue, Beth Israel, was torched in an antisemitic arson attack. This incident highlights both the threat of antisemitism and the necessity for the broader Jewish community to support one another.

Consider donating directly to the synagogue’s reconstruction campaign.
