John,
Between the President’s reckless and unconstitutional military actions in Venezuela and the outrageous killing of Renee Nicole Goode by ICE agents in Minneapolis, this last week has been marked by grief, fear, and outrage.
But over the weekend, something powerful happened. Across the country, Common Cause members and allies refused to stay silent.
In big cities and small towns alike, people showed up for rapid-response actions to say clearly and publicly: we reject political violence, abuse of power, and a government that puts billionaires over human lives.
Here’s what that looked like:
Members gathered at gas stations, community spaces, and public squares to call out the corporations set to profit from reckless, unconstitutional military action — making clear that bloodshed for oil is unacceptable.
Neighbors checked in on one another, held space for grief, and turned pain into purpose through nonviolent, lawful, community-led action.
John, none of this erased the harm that’s been done — but it did something just as important. It reminded us that we are not powerless. It showed that people across this country are paying attention.
And it proved that when leaders fail to keep us safe, we will step up for one another.
The goal of this administration’s chaos is to exhaust and isolate us. But this weekend, thousands of people rejected that story — and chose solidarity instead.
Thank you for being part of a movement that responds to fear with courage, to violence with community, and to lies with truth.
In solidarity,
The team at Common Cause
P.S. Please join us for the next step, calling constituents of the targets for an investigation into the pattern of immigration agents using deadly force and refuse to use our tax dollars to fund this abuse. Join us at commoncause.org/phonebank.
