Remember that huge dam some wanted on Washington’s Chehalis River? It’s back.
The Chehalis dam is back... and even bigger and more destructive. The latest proposal could cost close to $2 billion—with no good plan to pay for it. It’s 2026. We all know that dams aren't the answer—not when we have modern, proven flood solutions that can protect people, the land, and salmon. Now through February 4, you can add your voice to protect this key wild salmon river though a public comment period ([link removed]). Help put this mega-dam behind us, so we can focus on real solutions to improve our fish runs and keep communities safe.
Yes! I'll speak up for the Chehalis! ([link removed])

With recovery now in sight, our plan for Oregon Coast coho enters a critical stage
A decade ago, Wild Salmon Center and our Coast Coho Partnership allies launched a bold plan to recover Oregon’s threatened coho salmon runs. In watersheds across the state, we built scientific restoration roadmaps ([link removed]) targeting the highest value projects in each river, and then got to work. With Oregon Coast coho showing clear signs of recovery ([link removed]), now is not the time to slow down. That’s why, even in challenging times for conservation, we’re scaling and speeding our work across the Pacific Northwest.
