Let me be clear: Congress cannot look away while ICE agents terrorize communities, commit murder, and operate without oversight or accountability.
What we are witnessing from ICE is a pattern of recklessness enabled by Trump’s administration, and we must take action immediately. That's why I am fighting for the American people against ICE abuses:
First: Impeach Kristi Noem. I’m cosponsoring Articles of Impeachment against Secretary Noem. From obstruction of justice, violation of public trust, and self-dealing – her reign of terror must end. Leadership that undermines oversight and shields abuse cannot remain in power.
Second: Stop funding DHS. This morning, I introduced the Healthcare Reinvestment Act to take $75B Trump pushed into ICE and reallocate it to Affordable Care Act subsidies. Families need health care – not violent, unaccountable federal agents in their neighborhoods. I also will not support future DHS or ICE appropriations without basic accountability and oversight measures, and let me be clear: this issue is shutdown-worthy.
Third: Prosecute ICE. I authored the NOEM Act last month, before the shooting in Minneapolis. It ends the effective qualified immunity enjoyed by ICE agents and allows victims of constitutional violations to sue federal immigration officers, because, unlike JD Vance, I know that no one in this country is above the law.
Through four combat tours in Iraq, I never wore a mask. Accountability mattered. ICE Agents have no legitimate reason to hide their identities while they detain families and shoot Americans in the street.
No more lies.
No more excuses.
