Friend,

This Congress, I fought to protect access to affordable health care for millions of Americans and keep costs down for millions more. Meanwhile, President Trump signed a partisan bill that made the largest cuts to health care in American history in order to give tax breaks to billionaires

What should President Trump and the Senate do?

This week, I joined my colleague Rep. Dwight Evans at Temple University Hospital to call on the Senate to pass our bipartisan extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits. Saving these tax credits would protect health care for millions of Americans and keep hospitals like Temple from facing devastating cuts.

I’m back in Washington fighting to lower costs, but it’s clear that the President and I still don’t have the same policy priorities. When asked if he would support bipartisan efforts to extend the health care tax credits, President Trump said he might veto it. Meanwhile, he’s proposed polices to invade NATO allies.

I’d like to know how the President’s policies, like giveaways to billionaires, historic cuts to health care, and chaos abroad, are supposed to lower costs. Because right now, the average Pennie recipient, Pennsylvania’s Affordable Care Act marketplace, is getting a letter saying that their health care costs are doubling. Electricity costs are skyrocketing across Pennsylvania, and grocery prices continue to rise (Bureau of Labor & Statistics).

As your Congressman, I’ll always put Pennsylvanians first. That’s why I joined a bipartisan majority to support an extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits. Congress must get to work bringing costs down so Pennsylvanians don’t have to decide between going to the doctor, putting a roof over their head, or putting food on the table.

Sincerely,
