Trump’s obsession over propping up dirty, costly fossil fuels while you pay more for energy has gone too far. It’s time to speak up and push back — enough is enough. Here's one tangible step you can take right now to stop Trump's attempted oil takeover in Venezuela:
While families struggle to afford everyday expenses, Trump should not be investing taxpayer dollars in subsidizing overseas oil and gas projects, in Venezuela or anywhere else, instead of helping our communities. Our government should be prioritizing lowering utility bills and creating good-paying clean energy jobs in the U.S., not banning clean energy projects while giving handouts to wealthy oil executives and propping up dirty, costly coal power plants.
Over the last year, the Trump administration has lined the pockets of his wealthy fossil fuel donors while the climate crisis worsens and everyday families struggle to pay their utility bills:
- Electricity prices are up 13% and residential gas prices are up 60%, thanks to their eliminating clean energy and energy efficiency programs and attempted ban on clean energy.
- They forced outdated, polluting, and expensive coal plants to stay open in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, and Washington.
- They halted five nearly-completed offshore wind projects that were poised to provide clean energy, lower utility costs, and reduce toxic pollution, and which had already created family-sustaining jobs.

Now, Trump is gloating that he will run Venezuela’s oil sector and “reimburse” U.S. oil companies for their investments — on the American taxpayer’s dime. This obsession with oil and enriching his wealthy fossil fuel donors is dangerous, expensive, and does nothing to make energy more affordable here at home. We must speak out against it!

The American people don’t need Venezuela's oil nor more handouts to fossil fuel execs — we need cleaner air and water, lower energy prices, and a healthy environment to live in. Thank you for making your voice heard and bringing us closer to the just, equitable, and sustainable future we deserve.
